		<description>Prior to this announcement, we were out of warranty and this happened to our machine and Apple replaced it.  It was beyond the point of retrieving our data, but they wanted me to give them the old one or they wouldn&#039;t replace it.  I obviously had all of my back-up on it and with my objection raising security issues and a consult with a manager, they let me keep the one that wasn&#039;t working and replaced it.  Although, looking at the serial number today, I have another recalled one! 

I later found out that the only issue is with the power supply on the unit and the data storage is completely fine.  An authorized dealer explained that they could put it in a housing unit with an alternate power supply.  So if you have your old one, you should be able to use it with some techie tweaks!
