ChronoSync to version 4.3 and ChronoAgent for Mac to version 1.3.

ChronoSyncEcon Technologies has updated ChronoSync to version 4.3 and ChronoAgent for Mac to version 1.3. ChronoSync is the automated synchronization and backup application for Mac® OS X and ChronoAgent for Mac is a utility that runs on the destination Mac and communicates directly with ChronoSync, giving you full root access to the destination Mac. The update includes several enhancements and bug fixes but most notably it features extensive refinements to the link between ChronoSync and ChronoAgent. Additionally both ChronoSync and ChronoAgent utilities and their Help Centers have been translated to Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese adding to the existing languages of English, German, French and Japanese. ChronoSync and ChronoAgent for Mac will run natively on both Power PC and Intel-based Macintosh® computers running Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion. Download and try the demos (ChronoSync ChronoAgent), or purchase ChronoSync for $40 and ChronoAgent for Mac for $10. As always, all existing ChronoSync users update for free, forever.

I have used both ChronoSync and ChronoAgent for quite some time now and I can’t imagine living my computer live without it. Not only do I use it to create backups but we use it to share files through a folder on each of our desktops. I was also part of the beta testing team.

ChronoAgent for Mac version 1.3ChronoSync can automatically mount another Mac using Apple® File Sharing. But if you use the combination of ChronoSync with ChronoAgent when connecting two Macs, the connection is safer, faster, and more reliable than using Apple File Sharing. How can we make this claim? Simple. Apple File Sharing does not encrypt file transfers whereas ChronoAgent does encrypt files before copying them between Macs so file transfers are safer. ChronoSync must scan both Macs when using Apple File Sharing whereas ChronoAgent scans the destination Mac at the same time ChronoSync scans the source Mac so file transfers are faster. Apple File Sharing gains limited access to a destination Mac so some files may be missed when synchronizing or backing up whereas the combination of ChronoSync and ChronoAgent gives full access to both Macs ensuring a complete copy every time so backups and syncs are more reliable. If you’re synchronizing two Macs, sharing a folder on a Mac server between Macs, backing up one or more Macs to a Mac server, or even maintaining a bootle backup over a network, then the combination of ChronoSync and ChronoAgent is the answer.

“We went through the entire process and made significant changes with the way ChronoSync connects with ChronoAgent on another Mac. Not only is the setup much easier now but we replaced the existing encryption with SSL so that users can be assured their data is safe when copying between Macs over a network,” said Joe Japes, Marketing Director of Econ Technologies.

ChronoSync 4.3 and ChronoAgent 1.3 is the most comprehensive update since the initial release of version 4.

ChronoSync is the easy way to synchronize, backup, and create bootable backups. Synchronize between folders on your Mac, other Macs, PCs, external drives or anything you can mount on your Mac. Set up a Synchronizer document to schedule and automatically mount volumes so your syncs and backups are never missed. Archive your data and go back in time to restore and view older files. With ChronoSync, you can do a lot more than just copy data, you can manage data, too. Exclude files and folders, check the current sync status of files, even run trial synchronizations to see what will happen before it happens.

ChronoAgent for Mac is a utility that runs on a destination Mac and communicates directly with ChronoSync. Normally, when you connect to another Mac you mount it using file sharing. ChronoAgent bypasses file sharing, giving you full access to the destination Mac and eliminating the need to mount via AFP, SMB or other protocols. If you gain full access to a Mac, you can copy any file, without full access some files are off limits. With the combination of ChronoSync and ChronoAgent you gain full access to both Macs, automatically backup a Mac when it joins on a network, maintain bootable backups over a network, encrypt data over a network, and more. ChronoAgent only communicates with ChronoSync, meaning you need to have ChronoSync 4 in order to communicate with ChronoAgent.
